England's parish maps

One of my favorite features at familysearch.org is their parish maps of England.  You can find the map below at:  maps.familysearch.org

Once you enter the location in England you wish to search, click on the numbered flag and you can see these tabbed options for Stanhope Parish, Durham County.  On the info tab, I can see when records began to be recorded, names of other places in the parish, as well as other religious denominations identified in that parish (you need to scroll down).  Our Milburn relatives were Methodist, and this confirms there was both Primitive Methodist and Wesleyan Methodist in the area.

Moving to the Jurisdictions tab, you can view the County, Civil Registration District, Probate Court, Diocese, Rural Deanery, Poor Law Union, and Province.

Finally the 3rd tab is the Options tab.  Want to know what parishes are contingent?  Look around at other areas? It will do a radius search in an area of your choosing.  Find records listed in the Family History Library Catalog?  Find Historical Records in familysearch.org?  All can be done from this one spot.  There is even a link to the familysearch.org wiki for the area you searched!

Wouldn't it be great if FamilySearch would do this for all over the world!  A girl can dream!
